ANKORS 2010 AIDS Walk for Life
The 2010 AIDS Walk For Life on Saturday September 18th was a huge success with well over $5000 raised. Over 80 people participated in the walk in support of raising funds to help people living with HIV/AIDS in the Kootenay. The walkers were accompanied by the rhythms of the Moving Mosaic Samba Band as they wound their way through downtown and ended at Lakeside Park. Michelle Mungall our MLA addressed the crowd when they arrived and everyone grooved to the musical entertainment of The White Lightening Blues Band and Amberstaar Pyper who sang her official theme song “I Don’t Dance Alone”. A complimentary BBQ was held and prizes were awarded for most funds raised by a team (The United Church), by an individual (Tara Emery), and youngest and most senior walker. Our Walk’s theme this year was “Celebrating Support” which was proven by the amount of donations given, by the funds raised, by the volunteer support, and by the media coverage. Thank-you Nelson!!
